DENTAL IMPLANTS

If you are missing a tooth or need to have tooth extracted, a dental implant is one of the best options for tooth replacement. Dental implants are titanium posts inserted into the jawbone to take the place of the tooth root. We fit a crown on top of the implant to provide you with the appearance and functionality of a natural tooth, enabling you to speak, eat, and smile normally.

Dental Implant Procedure

After confirming that a dental implant is a suitable option, you will come to our clinic for surgery to receive the implant. After between four and seven months, you will return for a second surgery, during which we will fit a collar to the head of the implant. Around two weeks later, we will replace the collar with an abutment and fit a temporary crown. You will come back one more time four to six weeks later for your permanent crown.

Bone Grafts

Some people are unable to receive an implant straight away because their bone is too weak to support the titanium post. Even in these cases, an implant is still an option, but first you will need a bone graft. By adding bovine bone, an artificial material like bone, or bone from another part of your body to your jawbone, we stimulate regeneration. This strengthens the jawbone sufficiently for an implant.

Who Can Receive Dental Implants?

Most people who are in good health can receive a dental implant. In your consultation, we will check your oral health, X-ray your jaw, and ask for your full medical history. You should have healthy gums, no periodontal disease, and no rare blood diseases.

Dental implants are suitable for one, several, or even all of your teeth. In the case of multiple teeth, you can receive an implant-supported bridge or dentures.
