Intra-Oral Camera
An intraoral camera is a small video camera that is used to capture any image in the mouth such as the gum or a tooth. As the camera appears and resembles like an oversized pen, a dentist can easily place it into the patient’s mouth and thoroughly view remote areas of mouth and update the patient about his/her dental conditions like tooth decay, cracked teeth and cavities. The image taken by the intra-oral camera is magnified several times and projected on a high-definition TV for the patient to view even while lying down on the dental chair.
Intraoral camera is not just a great diagnostic and documentation tool but also a fantastic resource for educating the patients. We use intra-oral cameras to give a video tour of patients’ entire mouth. Unlike conventional x-ray images that require ample amount of processing time, intraoral camera gives instant images.
